When Sydney quartet the Cassette Kids first made a splash in the Aussie music scene back in '08, it was clear they were headed in the right direction.

Opening for killer groups like The Presets, the Ting Tings, and even Lily Allen on her last visit Down Under, was further confirmation the foursome was worth keeping a close eye on.

Now, with an appearance secured at this year’s SXSW festival in Texas and a slot marked for the upcoming Bacardi Express tour, 2010’s set to be one hell of a year.

To help kick things off to a wild start, the band’s about to unleash the video clip for its second single “Spin.” Nova was lucky enough to catch some of the action while filming the clip in Melbourne’s greater suburbs.

Lead singer Katrina Noobergen says unlike their performance-clip video for their first single “Lying Around,” they ventured down a different route this time. “It’s a completely different experience. Usually we set up all the gear and we play through the song about 500 times, and it’s all very noisy and loud but this one’s very carefully orchestrated and pieced together. It’s really exciting to involve extras into the scene and it’s probably the first time we’ve ever really done anything like this before.”

“There’s going to be colour this time,” Guitarist Dan Schober adds. “Last time it was white, red and black, and now we’ve got fantasy characters and a bit of a storyline.”

Noobergen says as soon as the quartet got their hands on the vision for this filmclip, they had a great feeling. “It’s been pretty comprehensive. When we got the treatment from Krozm, we loved it straight away. We’ve been going back and forth with them in terms of costumes and outfits and the lead up to it has been really exciting, watching everything get put together. I’m really excited,” she says.

“I love it. We had a bit of a marathon trail with make-up – we tried just about everything so we’re well prepared. We’ve got two different looks. The first is like quite normal, and then I go through a bit of a transformation... by the end and things get pretty creative. I’m looking forward to it.”

The electro-infused, upbeat and very catchy track "Spin" is the band's fourth single and a track which the quartet can't wait for everyone to get their hands on.

“Live, people have been responding to it really well so we’re looking forward to it getting a little better known so we can really get that awesome crowd response we’ve been after since touring with The Presets," Noobergen says.

With an intense couple of months ahead, drummer Jake Read-Harber says they're ready for whatever comes their way, and plan to give their music everything they've got. "You can expect us to tour the hell out of the country – that’s probably the main thing we’ll be doing. We’re already booked all the way until half way through the year so we’re looking forward to just seeing as many different places as possible."
