Manchester United’s favourite son David Beckham is back at Old Trafford this morning to play for AC Milan in the blockbuster Champions League clash.
It is the first time Beckham has played against Man Utd at the Red Devils’ home ground since he left in 2003.
Beckham has played for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and now AC Milan since leaving.
But there’s no bad blood there whatsoever. Beckham’s still an England hero. He’s told the media it will be a homecoming for him.
“I’ll always be a Manchester United fan but this is perhaps the first time in my life that I want them to lose,” he said.
Despite the media frenzy of Becks return, he’s only at AC Milan on loan and there are no guarantees he’ll get on the pitch.
Becks still has hopes of representing England in the World Cup in June this year. He’ll be 35 by then.
UPDATE: Manchester United defeated AC Milan 4-0. Becks came on as a substitute after an hour, to a huge ovation from the Man U fans. He played pretty well but the game was long gone once he made his appearance. Man U are through to the last eight of the Champions League. AC Milan are out.
