With a husband called Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys' first child was never going to have a traditional name. But Egypt Dauode Dean?
The singer gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday in New York City and wasted no time in proceeding down the path of strange celebrity baby names.
Named after the country best known for its Pyramids, little Egypt is apparently a healthy young tyke with no sphinx-like features apart from a taste for milk.
Swizz Beats - real name Kasseem Dean - tweeted news of the new arrival.
"I'm so thankful for everything I have been blessed with in my life wowwwwww!"
The couple married just a few months ago in a ceremony officiated by Deepak Chopra in Corsica, France. They announced their baby news in May.
Can't wait for the confusion to ensue when Keys and Beatz take little Egypt to Egypt - that will be an interesting encounter at passport control.
