After eight years of hosting events across the USA to help showcase Australian artists, the Stage Mothers are bringing the Aussie BBQ home this February and March.
The events have risen to a cult-like status amongst local musicians and international industry folk, as they help showcase Australian musicians traveling to the USA in search of their 'big break' during the South by Southwest festival. For the first time, the Aussie BBQ will take place in Melbourne and Sydney.
Showcasing in excess of 100 artists over their eight years, some of Australia's finest musicians have participated in the events, helping kickstart international careers for bands including The Temper Trap, John Butler Trio, The Vines, The Drones, Kisschasy, The Grates and Sarah Blasko.
Stage Mothers have worked tirelessly to ensure these events continue, funding the events themselves, with help of clothing brand Elwood. Proceeds from the Australian Aussie BBQs will go directly to marketing and promoting of the bands traveling to the USA as part of South by Southwest 2010.
