Bryanboy is the pen name of Filipino blogger that took the cyber world with a storm when his dedicated spin on the fashion world made some serious influence on the competitive industry that is Fashion.
Originally a web developer, the 17 year old started blogging from his parent’s house in Manila, Philippines and in 2007 his blog won the Philippine Blog Award for Best Fashion & Lifestyle. The blog named ‘Hysterically Camp’ is renowned for its witty, bitchy and knowledgeable content. So much so that after 2008/2009 Marc Jacobs show the now celebrity blogger wrote about loving a particular ostrich skin handbag and once the comments got back to Jacobs himself he named the handbag the ‘Marc Jacobs BB’ bag. How cool!?
It doesn’t end there. The following season Jacobs flew BB out to NYC to sit in the front row at his show next to the likes of Victoria Beckham. No other blogger had ever reached the sort of status that a front row seat at a Fashion show really represents. And for those non fashion peeps that have read this far into this feature, stop rolling your eyes. It is a BIG deal. BryanBoy now attracts 180,000 visitors per day and has been described as one of the hottest internet celebrities by the New York Post.
"Bloggers are in our top 5 marketing categories and contribute to 5% of sales" comments Natalie Massenet, Net-A-Porter.com founder. Net-a-porter is a major online shopping store, stocking the most exclusive and successful international designers worldwide.
The appeal of fashion blogging is much to the fact that they are written by real people and without sounding like Tim Gunn from Project Runway these people do have a passion for fashion.
