Walking into the Prince Bandroom, I felt like I was back at my high school prom watching a bunch of teens rocking out on stage. The only thing missing was my fluro pink ra-ra skirt and a pimply kid to pash.
Although the crowd wasn’t massive for Sydney-band Cassette Kids, they still managed to perform a decent set. Fairly green to the music biz, these guys are a band to watch in 2010.
Stand-out songs included their most recent tunes ‘Lying Around’ and ‘Spin’ but it was their debut single ‘You Take It’ that had diehard fans wanting more.
From the get go the quiet yet witty Scotsman, Calvin Harris was like an Energizer Bunny, jumping up and down to every one of his songs and doing the occasional jig.
The sweaty and smelly crowd lapped up every minute, singing and dancing to familiar tunes ‘Ready for the Weekend,’ ‘I’m Not Alone,’ ‘The Girls’ and his recent single ‘Flashback.’
Calvin proved he was more than just an artist – he is a true performer and talented producer who knows how to get the crowd pumping. With a fantastic backup band and vocalist, this was a definite BDO sideshow highlight.
