Carmelo Munzone says goodbye to The X Factor

Carmelo made it to the Top 24 but when Mel B’s contestant, Josh Brookes, was disqualified from the competition, Carmelo returned to the show as a fan favourite.

However, it wasn’t enough and tonight saw Carmelo in the bottom two, along with Ronan Keating’s group Fourtunate. Both performed their final ‘Sing For Your Life’ song but it was Carmelo who the judges decided to send home.

Carmelo’s mentor, Mel B, said, “He lights up the room and makes everyone smile. He was thrown in the deep end and has so much more to give.”

Carmelo said, “Amazing, I was so lucky to be given a second chance and have loved every minute.”

Also tonight, the Top 9 performed with Jessica Mauboy plus a live performance from Labrinth with his hit song, Earthquake. While UK singer Birdy wowed the crowd with her hit song, Skinny Love, which was covered famously by Bella Ferraro in her X FACTOR audition.
