How did the Vandalisms Style form? Both of us have always had a huge love for fashion. Ever since I was a little girl when I would dress up every weekend in my mums clothes & make up and then ride around the block on my bike to show everyone how wild I looked! I guess now I do the same, only I show it all off in nightclubs instead.
What does it add to the performance? I think it adds a lot of fun to the performance, it makes me feel like another person. I feel as soon as I put my stage costumes on then I am transformed into a wild animal
Is the style you have something that evolves or is it strictly aligned with the Vandalism Brand? Our style evolves with our travelling, our music and our shopping habits. We are fortunate enough to be able to shop around the world on our tours and be inspired by other cultures. I’m currently loving my gold sequined leggings I picked up in Singapore.
How does it affect projects that you take on? It probably affects it in a great way, as most promoters see by our fashion sense that we are going to have a lot of fun on stage.
How do you incorporate dressing together. Particularly as a married couple? We both make sure we have our purple sequined g-strings on before we leave the house!!!!!
Does the style you dress have an effect on what kind of music you choose to produce, essentially so its in line with image? With the sort of crazy electro music we make it’s very easy to be inspired by mad fashions. They both go hand in hand naturally.
What is your background with fashion? I have loved fashion since I was about 5 years old. I think it’s a great expression of character. I do tend to change my style from day to day depending on how I feel. I love mixing and matching and adding accessories. Also being a professional dancer for so many years has definitely affected my stage fashion sense. The costumes would always be such a big part of the performance and I think that frame of mind will stay with me forever.
How important is image management for a performer/group? I think it depends on the performer and I think it’s really important that it’s authentic. The audience can see straight through you if they know it’s not real. That’s why I love styling myself, it’s all me and what I love to wear.
