Chas Licciardello has hinted The Chaser could be back on screens covering the next Federal election.
The prankster let the bombshell drop on Nova radio, admitting that despite their plans they didn't yet have a contract to return.
"To be honest, we're planning to come back for the election," he told Nova's Top Ten team.
"If they call an election tomorrow, we're back on TV tomorrow, I hope.
"We haven't signed a contract yet with the ABC, which is an important point."
Best-known for his on-screen pranks, we're not sure Chas can be believed when he says the show isn't done yet.
The Chaser team pulled the plug on the show last year in the wake of a two-week suspension from screens over a controversial 'Make a Realistic Wish' skit.
Executive producer Julian Morrow said at the time they were interested in doing "different sorts off stuff" including a possible narrative comedy.
Chas was in the studios promoting a new The Chaster iPad app.
