The "Want U Back" singer and X Factor runner up told how internet bullies made her life hell.
The petite singer, 18, famed for her diva demands on the X Factor said she was forced to put on a hard front while she was on the talent show after receiving abuse on Twitter and Facebook.
Cher told the Sun newspaper, “It’s a miracle I’m still alive. I’ve been driven to hell and back. The worst thing I’ve suffered was when I received a death threat against my mum. It was her birthday and she was destroyed. She was a total wreck. I was so angry – say what you want about me, but don’t upset her.”
Cher who has helped BBC with ther Panorama documentary ‘Hunting The Online Bullies’, has campaigned about this kind of bullying and has even called for the government to fight against online bullying.
“I think these people need help. To do that to someone, there’s got to be something wrong with you. It sounds strange but I feel sorry for them. Maybe they’ve got a troublesome life, to feel the need to pick on other peoples. When I was on X Factor, because of my insecurities. I’d put on a front and I was this big, hard, cocky wannabe. But I’m nothing like that in real life. I’m quite scared of what people say about me or do to me.”
While we’re not convinced Cher’s diva demands were down to a ‘front’, internet bullying is an issue that needs tackling – so for that Ms Lloyd, we salute you!
