The crowd wasn't sure what to make of Chris Brown's performance at the BET awards last night when the singer could no longer perform and seemed to be reduced to tears on stage.
The troubled R&B star was midway through performing an emotional tribute to Michael Jackson when the incident happened.
Brown has been lying low since pleading guilty to assault over an incident with then-girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009. But he seemed to be at home as he easily replicated Jackson's signature dance moves as if the ghost of the King of Pop had just taken the stage.
Brown looked the part in a fedora and glittering glove as he moonwalked across the stage to "Billie Jean".
But it was when Brown grabbed a microphone to sing "Man in the Mirror", that he was reduced to tears. His voice broke-up and he couldn't sing, and at one point he slumped on the stage in grief. It was more like a moving gospel performance than a pop concert and more than one person in the room would have made the connection between the lyrics to "Man in the Mirror and Brown's recent troubles.
Check out the performance below.
Do you think the Chris Brown's performance was a real outpouring of emotion or is he trying to make people see him in a different light?
