Dr. Conrad Murray shed tears in the courtroom as defense witnesses give evidence through the trial of his involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson.
According to overseas reports, five character witnesses took the stand to share their professional and personal experiences with the physician.
Ruby Mosley told the court Murray founded a clinic in a poor Texas community to honour his late father.
"If this man had been greedy, he never would have come to an area or community of Acres Homes, 75 per cent of them poor, on welfare and social security," she said.
Andrew Guest told the court Murray saved his life in 2002 when he treated him for a heart condition.
"That man sitting there is the best doctor I've ever seen. I'm alive today because of that man," he said.
Murray was described overall as a caring doctor who offered free services to patients who didn't have enough money to pay.
