The Fairytale start to L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival began yesterday at Government House in Melbourne. By Stacey Lewis.
Yesterday the lovely looking ladies, the strapping gentlemen and some serious fashion power heads gathered at Government House to celebrate this year’s 2010 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. It was promised to be a Fashion Fairytale by the orgainsers and it certainly was. Melbourne performed with amazing 30 degree weather, and since the day is held out in the beautiful garden surroundings of Government House, what could go wrong?
Guests who have come out to Melbourne specifically for LMFF included Fashion Ambassadors Miriam and Olivia Nervo, Fracisco Costa, Malcom Carfrae (Calvin Klein Inc), Christian Blanckaert (Former Chairman and CEO of Hermes); Sarah Curran, Gabrielle Hackworth, Paul Bennett, Michael Angel, Tony Glenville and Linlee Allen.
The Governer of Victoria, Festival Director and Victoria’s Premier introduced everyone to the event; however the address may have been slightly been unnoticed to some hot and bothered attendees. We wanted to see the show. The models delivered one amazing show, well worth the wait and so much so as to demonstrate how to successfully fall down the stairs. Bless that poor model. But the collections which were themed with a fairy tale twist were very impressive.
My favourite being Alice Mc Call’s take on Cinderella piece, a nude pink wrap layered piece which was styled with amazing afro hair and jeweled head wear. Other designers included Alice in Wonderland –designed by Collette Dinnigan, Mini Mouse –designed by sass & bide, Beauty & the Beast – designed by Tina Kalivas, Snow White –designed by Dion Lee, Fantasia –designed by Michelle Jank, Ali Baba & the 40 Thieves –designed by Akira, 101 Dalmatians – designed by Romance Was Born.
Other celebrities and guests included our very own Monty & Wippa, Lindy and Michael Klim, Natalie Bassingthwaite, Erika Heynatz, Laura Dundovic, Rebecca Twigley, Megan Gale, Emma Abrahams, and many more
