The King of Pop sold his fair share merchandise while he was alive but in death people are fighting for money to be made from continued sales.
In a lawsuit filed just hours ago in Los Angeles, a company called Bravado – which owns the rights to use Michael Jackson’s image - alleges that the rights of Michael Jackson’s estate have been violated.
It claims High Performance Apparel, TJX Companies and Jeffrey Weissberg have been selling items containing the stars image. The complaint states “The sale of the infringing merchandise by defendants is and will be without permission of plaintiff or any party representing Michael or his estate.”
The plaintiff requested an injunction forcing the other companies from further unauthorized use of MJ’s image, $750 for infringing products, recovery of ill-gained profits, punitive Damages and an additional $150,000.
Bravado has already filed lawsuits against several other companies, alleging similar claims against Michael Jackson’s estate.
