When it comes to finding out what is hot this summer who better to ask than the woman whose designs have been worn by Destiny's Child, The Veronicas and Julia Roberts?
Hussy founder and designer Marie Hatzis is one of Australia's most respected designers, starting the ultra-feminine label in 1995 at the age of 21.
The label's latest project is a t-shirt collaboration with Jeanswest. Hussy has designed a tee to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Foundation along with Nicola Finetti, Bec & Bridge and Toni Maticevski. Check out the tees here. Marie sat down to chat with us about her involvement and what is hot in fashion this summer.
Fashionova: What is your never-fail fashion tip?
Marie Hatzis: Carrying fashion is all about having confidence and an understanding of what looks good on you, instead of purely following trends. Always dress for your body type, shape, colouring and always wear garments which make you feel utterly amazing.
What are your top five summer wardrobe must-haves?
- A fabulous maxi dress. They hide a multitude of sins and elongate the body
- A pair of day-into-night shorts
- A fabulous pair of heels
- Designer sunglasses and...
- A killer party dress
Short shorts or maxi skirts?
Maxi lengths are really coming in right now. London Fashion Week was awash with the fashion pack rocking longer lengths. I have designed some great maxis for our Metamorphosis range this spring which are just flying off the shelves!
Favourite place to shop online?
www.hussy.com.au, of course!
Why did Hussy decide to get involved in the Jeanswest Pink Ribbon Day project?
Everyone knows someone who has been impacted by breast cancer in some way. It is a disease that requires constant funding and awareness so we are more than happy to be involved.
Both you and Nicola Finetti reference butterflies as inspiration when designing the tees. What is the attraction to butterflies at the moment?
The theme of our current spring summer collection is called Metamorphosis, which references the evolution of a butterfly. It is a key spring-like concept which unfolds into a lot of our new range.
Samantha Harris is the face of the charity tee range and is absolutely everywhere right now – what is her appeal?
Sam featured in the Hussy Fashion Week runway parade and was a huge success. She has this great universal appeal and such a strong look. We love her!
How should we be styling our tees this summer?
Back with our gorgeous Metamorphosis pants, which taper in below the knee and feature some serious hardware embellishment!
Hussy's charity tee for Pink Ribbon Day is in Jeanswest stores now and costs just $30.
