Many celebrities at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards used the event as a platform to voice concern for the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti. The biggest message of all was the need for ongoing awareness and generosity.
George Clooney publicly announced a "Hope For Haiti" benefit in new York on Friday 22nd January, with performances from Bono, Sting, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys.
More than forty celebrities are expected to attend and the event will be co-hosted by Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean. It will be broadcast for all to see and proceeds will go to Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam America, Partners in Health and Jean's Yele Haiti Foundation.
Songs from the artists involved will be available on iTunes (proceeds will, of course go to the relief effort).
