Hilary Duff faced walking down the aisle a toothless bogan, after one of her teeth fell out unexpectedly on her wedding day.
An unassuming bagel was what sent the newly-minted author into hysterics, when her tooth dropped out as she bit into it.
"I bit into a bagel. I was sitting on the bed with my mum and my sister and they're like, 'You're an idiot, you did not. Come on'," Duff said.
"I burst into tears. Then I started laughing at myself then I really burst into tears.
"This is random, my amazing wedding planner Mindy Weiss...Mindy's sister's husband's best friend is a top dentist in Montecitoa nd she called him up."
Duff married ice hockey player Mike Comrie in California in August and this month became an author when she launched novel Elixir for young adults.
While promoting the book she revealed she regretted her teenage years, which were full of dieting.
"I got pretty skinny when I was between 17 and 19. At the time I was starting to become aware of what people said about me and how I looked in pictures," she said.
"I regret it because I don't think I was happy then."
Elixir follows photojournalist Clea Raymond and is the first in a series of Duff novels as well as a non-fiction book she is planning on divorce.
