Rocker Joan Jett is helping Twilight star Kristen Stewart deal with fame after bonding over the Twilight star's portrayal of Jett in the new biopic The Runaways.
Joan says her Kristen's fame more extreme than she experienced in her days in the girl band, but they share many similarities.
She told Daily Record she is confident the young star can handle the pressure.
"Look what she's got to deal with," she said. You can be a successful actor and still be able to go out and buy a loaf of bread but there's nothing that Kristen can do at the moment. What I meant to her is more through example than me saying, 'No, you should do this, or no, you should do that'. I don't deal with the people she deals with and the questions that they ask her and all that stuff, so I can only say, I can only do what I do. And if she learns something from the way I handle my own stuff, it's just to be in control."
Kristen cut her hair to look like Jett for the flick and Joan was an executive producer on the film and was always there to help Kristen.
She continued: "I told her, 'I don't want you thinking, what would Joan do? I want you to just do it, because I guarantee you, whatever choice you make, it's going to be what I would have done. Just have fun with it, have fun being it, and you can get away with any bad behaviour, blaming it on me."
The film has lashings of rock, drugs and even a girl-on-girl kiss. Jett has previously refused to comment on her sexuality but says she had no problem about people seeing the girl-on-girl kiss: "It's like stuff that happens all the time, every day, and it's not a big deal," she said.
