A legal battle may be brewing between John Butler and Oikos Greek yoghurt follow a commercial the company ran during yesterday's Super Bowl XLVI.
After the commercial, which features John Stamos, aired fans quickly raised the point that the music featured in the commercial is similar to the opening of John Butler Trio's single "Zebra" - a little too similar, perhaps.
Fans took to Twitter and Facebook to air their disappointment and draw John Butler's attention to the commercial.
The band's management made an announcement last night via Facebook, confirming the band had not been made aware of the commercial and are now considering their next move.
"Thank you everyone for making us aware of the Oikos Greek yogurt TV ad that aired during the Super Bowl yesterday featuring a song that sounds extremely similar to Zebra," they wrote.
"John Butler and his management were not aware of this usage until yesterday, and we will be seeking advice as how to address the issue. JBT MGMT"
UPDATE: Oikos Greek Yoghurt just posted the following statement on their Facebook page: "A question about the music in our Super Bowl commercial has been brought to our attention. We are working to fully understand and address the situation. We apologize for any concerns this has caused John Butler Trio's band members and fans."
