REVIEW: Am I sensing some influences from the 90’s Rock band Baby Animals in this one? This is Tayler Momsan’s band who is better known as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl. Did not expect a voice like this to come out of her. It’s strong, grungy rock and she resembles a much better looking Courtney Love. Two thumbs up.
BAD BITS: It’s another actress turned wannabe rock artist.
GOOD BITS: Taylor could actually succeed.
Brandon Flowers – Crossfire
REVIEW: If you like The Killers you’ll like this. Brandon Flowers front man’s The Killers and this is his first solo album attempt. It’s soft rock at its best, starts off a little Robbie Williams, the chorus goes a little U2 but it sounds like the Killer’s the whole way through. Easy listening this one. His Album Flamingo is out later this year.
BEST BITS: It sounds like The Killers
BAD BITS: It’s not The Killers.
Justin Bieber – Never Say Never
REVIEW: Bieber Fever, you gotta hand it to him, he’s got the moves and the voice but what happens when it breaks? This song is catchy and I can see why 16 year old girls will drool over him but as far as the beat goes, Bad Backstreet Boys’ or baby Aaron Carter comes to mind. This is not my cup of tea, but if a kid that age can be so cool, he’s gotta be doing something right.
GOOD BITS: Will Smiths little boy Jaden is in it.
BAD BITS: They refer to themselves as ‘JB’ and ‘JS’ - Jason Derulo's in the making?
Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me (Sony)
REVIEW: This guy has somehow got everyone talking about him before his album is even released! It’s like rap meets pop which then meets acoustic and then jazz jumps in for a visit and they all get together and had a tea party. Almost a little Plan Bish? It’s different, I like it.
GOOD BITS: This song would provoke a lot of bad bopping.
BAD BITS: Continuously singing the catchy chorus “You think you’re cooler than me” could end badly if sung in public.
