Katy Perry has vowed she won't mix sex and religion like contemporaries Lady Gaga and fiance Russel Brand have been known to do.
Sitting down for an interview with Rolling Stone, Perry explained why she's uncomfortable with artists mixing the two topics together after earlier this year she spoke out against Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" music video.
The video, which depicts Lady Gaga lowering rosary beads into her mouth during the sexually-charged clip, raised Perry's ire who at the time tweeted, "Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.".
During her interview with the magazine Perry discussed her stance on the imagery, "I am sensitive to Russell taking the Lord's name in vain and to Lady Gaga putting a rosary in her mouth. I think when you put sex and spirituality in the same bottle and shake it up, bad things happen," the "California Gurls" singer confessed.
"Yes, I said I kissed a girl," Perry conceded. "But I didn't say I kissed a girl while f**king a crucifix."
Katy Perry's Teenage Dream is released August 27.
