Katy Perry knows how to promote a new single - pose topless.
The "California Gurls" singer has posed topless in Esquire magazine, wearing nothing but high-waisted undies, heels and a necklace.
The singer doesn't fully bare her breasts, but covers them with her hands.
It is a much more risque look for the singer than usual, although her fashion sense has got markedly tighter and smaller since she took up with Russell Brand.
She claims her style is all part of one big joke.
"It's Lucille Ball meets Bob Mackie. It's about innuendo. I want everybody to get the joke, but I want them to think about it for a minute," she said.
"My stylist is a continuous burst of 'Yes we can'. He dreams just as retarded as I dream."
