It's nearly here. Yes, the biggest movie event of 2009 (even Bruno's kugelsack couldn't beat this flick baby). The Twilight: New Moon premiere is set to cause tears, palipitations and wet pants. To celebrate, we've dug up the our interview with Kristen Stewart. Our LA correspondent Sal Morgan caught up with the Twilight star before the original film hit the big screen.
You weren’t a fan of the series when you were cast in this film, but are you now a Twilight addict?
Yeah, I mean I am sort of like. I guess I would be the ultimate Twilight addict considering I get to bring it to life, so…
Tell me about some of the experiences you’ve had with these some of these extremely obsessed fans.
Comicon was the first, like crazy story worth telling. Nothing in particular, it was just like thousands; I mean a sea of people screaming every time Rob like put his hand in his hair. No, it’s crazy. We also met a lot of fans in Rome and Madrid and that was crazy, they were really very passionate and really nice. It’s weird because generally they’re my age, I am looking at people that are like me and to be like this figurehead for them is so bizarre. I mean I could be anybody, Bella could be anybody, that’s why she, that’s like why she’s so cool.
Your co-star Robert Pattinson already has a huge female following – what is it about him that they love, does he have similar qualities to his character?
I don’t know what it is necessarily. I think, just like the same thing about the Bella thing you know, anybody who was in that part, and even Stephanie Meyer said that in the beginning, anybody you cast you have to prep them, you have to let them know what’s going to happen. She knew how crazy her fans, not crazy but just devoted and die hard her fans were. Who knows, I mean Rob has cool hair and he’s tall, so, I don’t know, I have no idea.
Any similarities between him and his character?
He brought a lot of himself to the character, which is right for it. I mean, he’s pained. I’m not saying like Rob has demons, he does I’m sure, but in a very non particular way he overcomplicates things for himself; like very over analytical, contemplates like infinity and that’s good for the character. He’s very cerebral in ways and also very insecure. I’m not saying Rob is insecure, but that character is not supposed to be really arrogant and cocky and into himself and that is like why he was good for the part
I was reading the Entertainment Weekly with Rob and you on the cover, they’re calling him Hollywood’s next big guy and that you’re one of the next big things as well- how do you feel about that?
I feel like, I’ve done, it’s really strange, I mean I’ve done a lot of, most of the movies that I am used to doing are independent and we have our audience but it’s not a big one and I’m happy that maybe some of those movies will get seen now. It’s very fleeting also, I mean just because a magazine says you’re the next thing, they’ve printed that about a lot of people. I’m just going to continue doing what I’ve always done which is movies that I have to do and, you know it’s all going to go soaring away very shortly
What’s your favourite artists & what are you listening to at the moment?
I hate that question so much. It’s very defining you know when people ask you what movies and music you like, it’s like, well, ah… I don’t know. I am going to see Van Morrison. I’m like overwhelmed by the thought of that.
Are you going to see that with Rob, isn’t he like one of his all time favourite artists?
He is totally his favourite. And we all, kind of like the whole cast was introduced to the extent of how amazing he is on that movie, and he can totally take the credit for it, it’s absolutely fine. I don’t know if he’s going, I got tickets yesterday by fluke.
And what’s on your iPod at the moment?
Van Morrison um, hm. I don’t know I think maybe like, I hate this question like so much.
Australia – what do u know about the place – have you been there?
Yeah I’ve been there. My mum is from Australia. I’ve never been to her home town, Maroochydore, I think it’s in like Queensland or something. I was there when I was like 5 and again when I was 9. I want to go back. I want to drive all over the country, I love Australia.
Twilight: New Moon premieres on the 19th November 2009. Will you be there?
