This revelation was brought to my attention a few weeks ago and what great advice it was! This line will be your best friend forever… Still don’t know what I am talking about? "What’s your favourite biscuit?" is the best conversation starter or suffice to say the best pick up line... ever!
Now I don’t know about you but I am not really a believer in pick up lines, I hate receiving them (even though it doesn’t happen very often) and I despise attempting them even more, yet this ones seems like a much softer approach. After receiving this invaluable advice (thanks Mamamia) my friend and I decided to test it out on the weekend to see what all the fuss is about.
1st Group
We went with a group of men some married, some single and 1 in particular who was there celebrating the birth of his first child. Given the dynamics of the group we felt they were approachable enough to try out our new line. Without a word of a lie, we asked each of them separately and without knowing what the others had said they all replied with ‘Anzac Biscuits’. In fact one of them even elaborated to say he used to watch his mum and his grandma bake Anzac cookies when he was growing up – oh bless! What does that mean I hear you say? Given their characters and personality (this is judging on first impressions mind you), I think their response reflected wholesome, country and family oriented guys. Ladies if you want yourself a hard-working farm boy then Anzac biscuits are for you! Keep an eye on them though because whilst they love their families, wives, partners etc they also love to have their boy time!
2nd Group
This was a seemingly younger group of lads ranging from their mid-late 20’s, possibly early 30’s. They were quite a mixed bunch and after chatting to them it came to fruition that they had all come to be mates from all walks of life. This might sum up the range of favourite biscuits they gave us from Yoyo’s to Kingston to Ginger Nuts to Digestive (what the? Health freak!). The classic answer of all though was ‘I don’t do biscuits’ pfft whatever Mr Arrogant get a personality, who doesn’t do biscuits! Ladies stay well clear of gents with this response – turns out he was a bit of a douche bag after all!
My advice to you is make no qualms about it, you have to be confident, whether you are approaching a group or someone flying solo, you have to be prepared. Oh and while you’re there make sure you have an answer on what’s your own favourite biscuit. I got caught out when someone asked me in return and I looked like a right idiot! I mean how can you expect someone to give you an answer when you don’t even have one yourself?! Be creative with it though; don’t run with Tim Tams, that’s just plain boring.
Final thought, even if it doesn’t snag you a guy, it makes for a very entertaining night out with your girlfriends/mates. I would highly recommend giving it a go.
