Creating art from prison has never been so easy thanks to the internet.
Lil Wayne and his protege, Drake, have collaborated on the song "Light Up" featuring Jay-Z. Lil Wayne decided to add his own rap verse to the Drake song calling from a phone at Rikers Prison in the US.
During a live internet stream with Drake fans, Lil Wayne laid down a verse over an industrial-sounding beat, which was recorded and cleaned up for a remix.
Of course, it wasn't long before the track found its way onto YouTube.
The guest rapper threw in some lines about his current condition: "I'm feeling like Elvis, 'Jailhouse Rock,' ... I'm not 2Pac, I'm the new Pac / Behind bars, but the bars don't stop / Recording over the phone, I hope the call don't drop / Drizzy got the ball, I know the ball won't drop / And I pray none of my kids ever wanna be pop."
Who said going to prison was a career-stopper?
Drake's Thank Me Later will come out June 15 featuring "Light Up" with Jay-Z. But who's betting this isn't the last we'll hear of this phone-a-thon?
