Neighbours stars often become pop stars but this week it happened the other way around when Lily Allen made a guest appearance on the soap.
Allen found time to film an episode of Neighbours while touring Australia earlier this year.
The episode aired on Network Ten on Tuesday, September 8, and featured the UK singer performing an acoustic version of her single 22.
Allen played herself (who else?) in a scenario where Zeke (Matt Werkmeister) was feeling good about the world and his relationship with Karl (Alan Fletcher).
Zeke invited Karl to join him on his radio shift at pirate.net radio station and Karl turned out to be a natural - popular with listeners and with the station organisers. Zeke found it hard to get a word in.
In desperation, Zeke attempted to sabotage Karl, but only succeeded in increasing his popularity and Karl is offered his own one-hour segment in Zeke’s show.
22 is Allen’s fourth single from her double platinum-plus selling album It’s Not Me, It’s You and is currently sitting at its peak of #13 on the national ARIA singles chart.
The album is at #12 after having been in the Top 20 for nearly all of the 30 weeks since its release.
