Lindsay Lohan's younger brother Michael Lohan Jr has spoken out about his sister's drug abuse, revealing she was "surrounded by leeches" and is now at a crossroads in her life.
Blaming her blurred vision in the past, Michael has defended his sister and offered unconditional love and support as she enters her fifth attempt at rehab for various drug and alcohol related issues.
He blamed her friends for hampering her previous efforts to stay clean.
"People she was surrounded by - enablers, leeches, whatever you'd like to call it - made things very difficult," he said in a statement released to People magazine.
"It's quite strenuous to right your wrongs when the people around you help justify your actions. Therefore, cloudy judgement made it easy for her to neglect those trying to guide her."
Michael Jr said his sister had come to realise her past mistakes and was now fully committed to her recovery, after a recent relapse in which she tested positive to cocaine and amphetamines and was jailed for 15 hours.
"She is well aware she is at a crossroad in her life, and is fully committed to ensuring a healthier future," the college graduate said.
"She has made concious efforts to improve her lifestyle behaviours and to treat this process with great care. In order to continue her healing process, she's willing to take whatever steps necessary."
