Lionel Richie confirmed for AFL Grand Final entertainment
Rumours surrounding the entertainment for Saturday's AFL Grand Final have finally been put to rest with confirmation that music guru Lionel Richie will be performing in front of thousands of eager footy fans at Melbourne's MCG.
Last week's neck-to-neck draw between Collingwood and the Saints roused a crowd of more than 100,000 – the biggest in more than 20 years at the MCG.
This week's tipped to be just as massive, so there will be plenty of eyes on the "Hello" and "Say You Say Me" hitmaker.
“It is incredibly important to provide members and supporters attending the game on Saturday a quality experience, and that means presenting premium pre-match entertainment,” AFL spokesman Darren Birch said.
“The AFL is thrilled to have Lionel Richie perform in front of another sell-out crowd at the MCG and his performance will certainly add enormously to the occasion.”
This week’s entertainment rumours also included P!nk, AC/DC and Tom Jones. According a report in the Herald Sun, Richie's stoked to be the main man.
"I am incredibly fortunate to have been available for this once-in-a-lifetime experience to share my music with my fans," he said.
