In a fresh and innovative way to raise money to support people living with disabilities, Adelaide hip hop band Mase N Mattic has teamed up with scosa (formerly the Spastic Centres of South Australia) to launch "Who I am". 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of this track will go to scosa and will be used to provide vital services to South Australians living with disabilities.
Mase N Mattic -- aka Jason Willoughby, Matthew Patti, together with DJ PT, Paul Tate -- are developing a strong following around Australia after the release of their first album Sound the Horns in 2011.
The group featured in the 2012 Big Day Out and have performed live with the likes of Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Funkoars and toured nationally as a support act with Melbourne-based artist, M-Phazes.
Mase N Mattic has written "Who I am" exclusively for scosa as a dedication to people living with disabilities. The group all have strong connections to people with disabilities and approached scosa because they wanted to make a meaningful contribution.
Get behind this initiative and download the song. 100 percent of the amount you elect to pay will support scosa and go a long way to making a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
If 1000 people download the song for $5, we will raise enough funds to provide 400 hours of support services for people with disabilities.
WHO I AM - LYRICS
Mase: I grew up in a nice kinda neighbourhood Standard homes and the floor boards are made of wood That's truth, man i'm not gonna lie Try sell you a story that your not gonna buy right Pretty straight edge, you could say clean cut Had my problems, yeah, but they been brushed Off my shoulder, letting em go Release hold, be the mould, like embedded in stone So remember, when you say that it hurts, there's Someone else in the world and they got it worse And in the end, yeah we all had a clever Idea to write a song, words came together No hesitation to change for the better Coz a lot can be made if you make a little effort, like I don't wait for the day that I die I live life, give a positive vibe, and thats why I said
Mattic: Open your heart; re-wire your brain And change up how you perceive your pain We tend to take every blessing for granted And i don’t know why, no questions are answered You Have health and food; you have love and friends You got more than a kid could wish for in the end A Sense of sight to hold a one-track mind The ability to think and store a memory inside We can only be said to be alive in these moments I stay conscious of those who can’t involve em When A silent gratitude isn’t much use but still We stay comfortable with how we fit in these shoes See You can walk, you can talk, play sports with your mates You can watch the sunset to finish off your days So we can Always find something to be thankful for So why not Spare a thought for what will make you yours and I said
Mase n Mattic: I go about my day to day with a Open hand life style and i like to give a Little back, given that, what this has given us Is way more than i thought, from when i picked it up im feelin, home & safe but face the bitterness we aint all the same, nah, we all made different think of it, if you could have one wish See would you help yourself, or would you help one kid
