It's the biggest show in the country, but before MasterChef last year, Mehigan was teaching Australians to cook through the LifeStyle Channel’s Boy’s Weekend and Good Chef Bad Chef.
Just recently, Mehigan crossed over to print with his cookbook Gary Mehigan’s Comfort Food, which Ricki-Lee loves. It gets her out of trouble, she says.
As the top cooking show in the country however, there’s a lot of emphasis on what the judges and contestants in MasterChef do, and referring to the plating thing, whereby the show was accused of fixing dishes, Merrick wants to know: “have you been lying to us?”
“No, what value is there for us to change the winners, or to nudge it in some direction? What’s happening is that we’re also getting a few contestants who’ve knocked out, who are saying it wasn’t fair, and that’s a shame I think. It is a competition after all.”
Gary Mehigan has also got a few opinions on how winning a Logie has changed Matt Preston's life.
