I can’t say I own an AC/DC t-shirt or CD, nor did I feel compelled to buy devil horns at the gig (like the other 60,000 diehard fans) but I did get an education in what constitutes REAL rock n roll.
For men my Dad’s age, the lads have not lost their passion or energy banging out old skool classics like ‘Back in Black,’ ‘Thunderstruck,’ and a crowd favorite ‘Highway to Hell.’
They may be a little bit older, but they’re still ready to get their gear off especially Angus who treated the crowd to a strip tease and spent the rest of the show half naked. He still sends the crowd into a spin with his unbelievable guitar riffs, solo performances and onstage antics.
I’ve been guilty of thinking AC/DC fans were all bogans, but I was wrong - they just know and love great rock n roll. Surprisingly the crowd wasn’t just old time rockers – they were all ages including young kids donning their school uniforms and devil horns.
And kudos to the chicks who were happy to flash their girls up on the big screen throughout half the show – is this a ritual you do at an AC/DC concert? Well whatever it was, the men of Melbourne thank you.
