PHOTOS: The Last Song premiere in Melbourne
Miley’s Cyrus’ new flick The Last Song premiered last night at the Jam Factory in Melbourne, and her hunky beau (and co-star) was present to welcome the eager audience!
Hunky Aussie Liam Hemsworth said that he and Miley were “very proud” of the movie, and that he was looking forward to seeing the final cut (he sat amongst friends and family during the screening)! The movie itself was a pleasant and poignant tale, which delivered surprisingly more than a tweeny rom com!
The story begins with Ronnie (Cyrus) who, with her little brother Jonah, are set to spend the Summer with their estranged father (Greg Kinnear) at his beach-front house in a small, Southern town.
Ronnie (the name was personally selected by Cyrus) is an angry, angst-filled teen, who has struggled to come to terms with her parents’ divorce. A talented pianist, Ronnie hasn’t played since her father left her mother years earlier. That is, until she meets and falls in love with local boy, Will.
As we watch Ronnie and Will babysit sea turtle eggs, frolic on the beach and ultimately fall in love, we learn that things are not always as they seem.
It is a heart-warming story of love and loss (and music) which definitely tugs at the heart strings! Ladies, pack some aloe vera tissues for this one! The film was based on the Nicholas Sparks’ novel (he famously penned The Notebook, so no surprises that this one is a tear jerker!) and was the first screenplay for the author.
Things to look out for: Miley’s new song When I Look at You and a stellar performance from Bobby Coleman, who is adorable as Jonah.
