NBC: sorry for M.I.A.'s Super Bowl flip-off

NBC has apologised for M.I.A.'s middle finger-waving antics at the Super Bowl show.

The rapper, who's no stranger to controversy, stuck the finger up while singing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj during "Give Me All Your Luvin'" - while being watched by millions around the world on a live broadcast.

NBC said in a statement, "The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show... Our system was too late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers."
