It's round 4 - Rivalry Round.
Each Australian team will be taking on a New Zealand team and the combined total number of goals scored will determine which country will take home the trophy.
Rivalry Round was introduced last year it’s the one round of the championship in which I will genuinely be supporting every Australian team (and yes, that includes NSW and Victoria!)
Saturday – Waikato/ Bay of Plenty Magic vs West Coast Fever
Saturday – NSW Swifts vs Central Pulse
Sunday – Adelaide Thunderbirds vs Southern Steel
Monday – Canterbury Tactix vs Melbourne Vixens
Monday – Queensland Firebirds vs Northern Mystics
The Rivalry Round trophy will be presented to the captain of the winning team on behalf of their country, which means the Firebirds have much more to play for than just the win this time.
They are definitely up against it, with the Mystics recruiting well in the off season, boasting New Zealand internationals Temepara George, Joline Henry, Maria Tutaia and Catherine Latu.
The Firebirds are going to have to find their range this week, in order to match it with such a heavy weight team. I expect some awesome match-ups right across the court, but I am confident our girls can find that spark.
