Hills Siege Ends
A guy's been charged after a siege in the Hills yesterday. The drama began around lunchtime in Aldgate, when it's alleged the 41 year old drove his car at a woman on Mt Barker Road. He ran over someone who went to help her, then holed himself up at his Bradbury home, lighting 4 fires until Star Group stormed his house and ended the stand off at 6pm.
Another Holdup out North
Another armed holdup last night, this time at a Pooraka chemist. A guy armed with a shotgun threatened staff at the Main North Road pharmacy before 9pm, before doing a runner with cash. Now Police are checking out if this hit's linked to another couple of holdups across the weekend.
Loyalty Card rip off
The latest report card shows our loyalty cards are a bit of a rip off! According to the Choice study, we're only getting an average one dollar back for every hundred spent at Coles and Woolies. That means you'd have to spend 15-grand to get just a fift dollar petrol voicher.
Cough Up for KI
The Kangaroo Island council's playing hard ball over road funding again! They reckon they'll close every one of KI's roads by 2013 if they can't start charging tourists $10 to drive there. The Council's already hiked rates by 2% above CPI every year for the next decade to try and pay for roadworks.
