Oprah Winfrey isn't a closet lesbian. In fact, the big secret she's been hyping of late is pretty boring: she has a secret half-sister.
The talk show queen found out last year that her mum gave up a daughter 47-years-ago when Oprah was just nine.
Her mum Vernita Lee feared she would not be able to look after the child along with her other kids, so placed her up for adoption to an oblivious Oprah.
After hyping a "family secret" for weeks Oprah introduced her secret sister Patricia on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday.
"It was one of the greatest surprises of my life. It left me speechless," said Oprah.
Patricia lived in foster homes until the age of seven, having a difficult childhood even after being adopted. She always wanted to meet her birth mother, but when she eventually tracked her down, Lee wasn't ready to meet her.
DNA testing was done, but still Lee refused to acknowledge her. Eventually Oprah confronted her mum, who denied adopting out a child.
Eventually Oprah's assistant told her the truth and Oprah went to meet her sister on Thanksgiving last year.
As for her mum, Lee says she "thought it was a terrible thing that I had done" and didn't want to admit to it.
