Blogger Perez Hilton could face a child porn probe after posting an explicit photograph of Miley Cyrus on his website.
The celebrity blogger is in hot water thanks to the image that showed 17-year-old Cyrus getting out of a car while apparently not wearing undies.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira put a link to the photo on his website and Tweeted: "If you are easily offended, do NOT click here Oh Miley! Warning: truly not for the easily offended!"
He removed the photograph when his followers started to condemn him and accuse him of peddling in child porn.
There have been suggestions the photo was Photoshopped but specialist lawyer in child porn Jeffrey Douglas said Hilton could still face serious consequences.
"We're not talking about a misdemeanor. You don't have to know what the definition of the law is; all you have to do is knowingly distribute the photograph," he said.
Hilton has defended himself, insisting other photographs from the roll showed Miley's privates were covered up.
"Do you think I'm stupid enough to post a photo of Miley if she's not wearing any underwear? No. Sure, I like to be controversial, but I don't want to go to jail," he said.
"The reason I linked to that photo was because I thought she was exiting the car in a very unladylike like fashion."
Perez bills himself as "the most hated man in Hollywood" and it seems he is fast living up to his own reputation.
