The lads from Busy Marou been nominated for two awards in this year's Jagermeister Independent Music Awards - Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year and Best Independent Blues and Roots Album.
One half of the Queensland duo, Thomas Busby, sat down for a chat with NovaFM to discuss their nominations.
NovaFM: Congratulations on your nomination! What was your reaction when you found out you were nominated?
Busby: Surprised, excited and proud to be in the same company as some of our favourite artists.
Q: What’s the first thing you’ll do if you win a trophy at this year’s awards?
A: Ask our manager if we can stay an extra night in Melbourne for recovery purposes.
Q: In three words, tell us why you deserve to win.
A: We'll celebrate hard!
Q: What do you love most about being a musician?
A: Every day is a Saturday and we never have to shave again.
Q: What's something we would never guess about you?
A: Youngest of eight children.
Q: Why do you think the Jagermeister Independent Music Awards are important for Aussie music?
A: It's a true indication of the best Australian music - both emerging and established.
Q: What are three fundamental things you request in your rider?
A: Beer, water, red wine.
Q: What's the most embarrassing album on your iPod, and why?
A: Wilson Phillips - because I wanted to see if I still loved the single as much as I did when my sister made me sing harmonies as a 9 year old.
Q: What's the worst thing that's happened during a live show?
A: Jeremy fell asleep in the car and missed half the gig - I had to pretend to play guitar well.
Q: What’s your biggest pet hate?
A: Jeremy's snoring.
