Two of the biggest names in hip hop the world over will come together to get the crowds bouncing when New Zealand rapper, Scribe supports chart-topping East London hip hop kingpin Dizzee Rascal at his Sydney and Melbourne Big Day Out side shows in January.
When a young New Zealand rapper called Scribe A.K.A. Malo Luafutu first stood up four years ago and asked ‘How many dudes you know flow like this?’ in his smash hit Not Many, he brought an exciting new flavour to the international hip-hop scene. A ferocious presence onstage, spitting hard-hitting, hook-laden rhymes, Scribe has proven irresistible to all corners of the hip-hop community, appearing alongside legends from KRS-1 and Jadakiss to Lady Sovereign and Skinnyman, and performing everywhere from the famous Notting Hill Carnival to the DMC World Champs, hip-hop club nights and instores.
Back home he has had multiple platinum album sales and the longest running number one single of all time on the New Zealand charts. Like Scribe, rapper Dizzee Rascal enjoyed a quick ascent in to the hip hop upper echelons when he bounded into the limelight with his Mercury Music Prize-winning debut Boy in da Corner in 2003; his sound an eye-opening collage of garage, hip hop, grime, found sounds and eclectic electronica, his words a fierce, quick-witted mix of youthful urban confusion and conviction.
Dizzee Rascal returns to Australia this summer on the back of his fourth album, Tongue n’ Cheek. His crowd favourite Bonkers was the hit of the UK summer and now it’s Australia’s turn to go Bonkers and light up our own summer with his next hit-in-waiting, Holiday. Get loose, let go, throw a coupla shapes and get ready to dance wiv Dizzee Rascal and Scribe this summer. Tickets on sale now. Don’t miss out!
