Ou Est Le Swimming Pool frontman Charles Haddon may have taken his own life because he believed he had crippled a girl who was watching his band during a stage diving incident.
The singer jumped to his death backstage post performance after he saw a girl suffer back injuries, the Daily Mail reported.
Haddon had fallen on the girl during the Pukkelpop festival and she suffered leg and spine injuries. Witnesses told NineMSN the incident took place when Haddon attempted to crowdsurf by jumping from the stage at the end the band's performance.
"As people were completely surprised by this, they jumped away instead of catching him," a witness told the website.
"Apparently one girl couldn't get away and was severely injured in the back."
It was also reported there may have been a "heated argument" between band members before Haddon fell 18m to his death.
The band was scheduled to come to Australia for the Parklife festival next month.
The injured punter is expected to make a full recovery.
