Former Guns N’ Roses guitar god Slash has defended his decision to hand-pick Fergie to provide vocals for a cover of one of GNR’s greatest hits “Paradise City.”
“Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing Rock & Roll,” Slash wrote on his Twitter account. “But she sings it better than most dudes I know. She's a screamer at heart.”
The track, which also features Cypress Hill, is part of a two-song CD single recently released in Japan.
It's also tipped to feature on the Velvet Revolver guitarist's upcoming 2010 solo delivery Slash & Friends, produced by Eric Valentine (Good Charlotte, Queens Of The Stone Age), and featuring a range of guest artsts including Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea.
The Black Eyed Peas recently shared the stage with Slash at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles in October, performing the GNR classic "Sweet Child O' Mine". Fergie also performed at Slash's birthday concert at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas in July.
