DJ Sanchez: Spinner winner!!
A mix of classic underground hip hop has brought Adelaide DJ Sanchez his biggest gig yet. The Happy Valley resident, otherwise known as Miguel Sanchez, will play in front of 80,000 revelers at the Fringe Opening Night Party on Friday, February 19 after winning the Spin DJ Comp’s Spin Off.
The Spin Off held on Friday, February 5 was a huge success, with hundreds of party goers kicking up their heels to Spin DJ Comp finalists DJ Sanchez, Adrian Van Der Ploeg, Bunyip and the Kartel Kids.
DJ Sanchez was chosen as the winner by judges Troy Sincock, Dave Knight, Jamie Bennett (DJ Japeye) and Lauren Presser.
“Sanchez is one of those rare hip hop DJs that knows how to bust turntablist tricks while keeping an eye on the floor to get a party started, plus his track selection is always first class,” Spin Off judge Dave Knight said.
DJ Sanchez mixes world-class turntablism with an impeccable track selection of classic underground hip hop. He makes regular appearances on Radio Adelaide, 3D Radio and has supported heavy-weight acts such as Grandmaster Flash, Funkoars, Delta and Muph & Plutonic.
Spin DJ Comp is open to all South Australian DJs. Now in its fourth year, the competition held in partnership with Fringe Benefits and Adelaide Fringe has been the springboard for local talents such as Track Team (2007), Carter Bros (2008) and DJ Well Being (2009).
Aspiring DJs, get practicing for next year’s competition!
