More than 10,000 music lovers hit Melbourne’s city streets yesterday in an effort to save the live music scene.
Protesting against the looming closure of classic music venues -- and the state government's lack of support for the industry -- thousands of marchers were out on force.
Influential Aussie musicians including Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, Tim Rogers, Kram, Dan Sultan and Paris Wells and a band led a very loud procession along Swanston Street to Parliament House.
Crowds gathered around the State Library from the middle of the afternoon and as soon 4pm kicked in, the march began.
Marking the 34th anniversary since the making of AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top” film clip, the crowd went wild when the band thrashed out a rocking version of the home-grown favourite rock track.
