Tourist crashes Gossip Girl set, gets mistaken for an extra

Melbournite Kate Robertson, 26, watches Gossip Girl "religiously" and went to the Waldorf Astoria on August 21 to try and catch a glimpse of the stars.

She managed to sneak into the hotel and through to the Grand Ballroom, where the cast was filming.

She told the Daily News, "I just couldn't believe that I had gotten that far without anyone noticing... I sat down and I just waited for someone to tell me to leave."

Nobody did, so Kate - who was wearing a dress and thongs - kept walking through and was eventually whisked away by make up artists to be made up for a scene.

She spent six hours on the set, which she described as "amazing" but "tedious work - they did retake after retake".

Paul Hewitt, the senior vice president of the CW Network's publicity department, declined to comment on the incident.

Later that week, Kate ran into her favourite Gossip Girl character, Chuck Bass (played by Ed Westwick), and told him her story. He thought it was quite a laugh!
