"This is a top buzz. You get paid to have fun and go and hang out with exciting people. This is fantastic." - Karl Hyde, on loving his job

Underworld will use Australia as an unofficial testing ground this weekend when the legendary club gurus hit festival stages.
The act was last Down Under for New Years Eve 08/09 where members Karl Hyde and Rick Smith decided they would return with a new show.
We Love Sounds and Winter Sound System festivals suddenly became the places where a new show would be premiered.
"We needed somewhere that we could play to start to try the new show out where you were going to have an audience that you were pretty certain were going to be up for it," Hyde says.
"So this was like, 'I think Australia, yea that's a good place to start'. What we've got is the beginnings of our show. because after three years you evolve into this thing which is all singing-and-dancing and then you throw it away and start with something new so we're coming down here with a real scratch show."
But "scratch" will never mean "scratchy" when it comes to Hyde and Smith. The undisputed club kings have been recording as Underworld since the late-80s and this week the outfit is smashing three cities in one long weekend.
So Underworld shows no sign of slowing down. Or, according to Hyde, perhaps that should that be "not too many" signs.
"Some days you wake up thinking 'oh my God whose body is this'," he says. "It's the body of a 400-year-old-man. But then something happens, you walk out on stage, an energy starts up, Rick drops the first beat, and it's an hour and a half later and you're buzzing, going 'I want more'."
That's been enough to keep the band members dedicated to making music. With the new show comes a new record, Barking. And of course, a new single "Scribble".
"It's not a job is it," Hyde says. "This is a top buzz. You get paid to have fun and go and hang out with exciting people. This is fantastic."
Underworld show dates:
Saturday, June 12 - We Love Sounds, Sydney Sunday, June 13 - Winter Sound System, Melbourne Monday, June 14 - We Love Sounds, Adelaide
