Gone are the days when reality star search contestants were sweet (Kelly Clarkson), innocent (Carrie Underwood), meek (Leona Lewis) and well-behaved (Wes Carr – debatable).
If you take a peek at today’s Twitter trend, you’ll find Adam Lambert up there with the best of ‘em. The American Idol hit the American Music Awards with a performance that shocked some viewers (the ones with kids and homophobic tendencies). On the other end of the scale, it delighted Perez Hilton - take a look at the Lambert love happening on the gossip queen’s Twitter account. Yep, Lambert’s performance was racy enough to rival Lady Gaga in the ‘shock stakes’.
His performance of "For Your Entertainment" opened with the words “It’s about to get rough” – and did it ever. Crotch rubbing, a snog with a band member… music is visual these days baby.
Let’s face it, it's not the first time. Britney, Christina and Madonna locked lips at the MTV Awards; these days people expect entertainment value as well as musical talent. Or do they? What do you think? Did Lambert go too far or are people shocked too easily? Watch it and decide for yourself:
One thing's for sure, they don't make Idols like THAT in Oz. Watch closely Stan Walker... this could be the future. Will the ARIAs produce any gob-smacking visual talking points? Will Robbie Williams kink it up? Let's bloody well hope so.
