Hey music-loving dudes! Get ready for some news from across the pond. They've been giving out awards for fresh new sounds in the music biz. It's worth taking note.
The Barclaycard Mercury Prize is an annual music prize awarded to the best album from the United Kingdom or Ireland. The winners aren't usually the obvious crowd favourites - they are usually more obscure. Elbow won last year and at the 2009 ceremony on September 8th, London rapper Speech Debelle took the prize for her album 'Speech Therapy'.
Jools Holland presented the award to the talented musician at the Grosvenor House Hotel as the other nominees watched on.
"Thank you to the panellists, to my band, thank you so much to my mum, to my fans," she said, accepting her award. "Thank you to whoever's name's on the cheque. I'll be here all night – thank you very much, good night."
Earlier in the night, each nominee performed (excluding Glasvegas). The nominees were:
Bat For Lashes – Two Suns
Florence And The Machine – Lungs
Friendly Fires – Friendly Fires
Glasvegas – Glasvegas
The Horrors – Primary Colours
La Roux – La Roux
Led Bib – Sensible Shoes
The Invisible - The Invisible
Lisa Hannigan – Sea Sew
Kasabian – West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum
Speech Debelle – Speech Therapy

"Thank you to the panellists, to my band, thank you so much to my mum, to my fans," she said, accepting her award. "Thank you to whoever's name's on the cheque. I'll be here all night – thank you very much, good night."
It's a great way to get a heads up about new talent. We recommend you check them all out - it's new music at it's very Brit best.
