RSL Queensland reckons Brissie's youth should set the alarm clock for super early on ANZAC Day.
The organisation says in recent years more young people have been attending the dawn service and they’d love that trend to continue this Sunday.
RSL Queensland President Doug Formby said it was important for today’s youth to remember that the veterans they see marching today were the young men and women who stepped up when called upon decades earlier.
“It is very uplifting to see Australian’s paying their respects, especially when giving thanks to the thousands of servicemen and women who gave of their lives for the freedom that we enjoy today,” he said.
“This year I will pay my respects at the Coolum dawn service before visiting Yandina at 11am."
"I would encourage all Queenslanders to attend and participate in their local ANZAC Day services and marches.”
Brisbane’s dawn service will begin in ANZAC Square at 4:28am at the Shrine of Remembrance and the march will commence at 10am on the corner of Queen Street Mall and George Street.
This year, Brisbane march organisers are anticipating between 10,000 and 15,000 marchers with Air Force squadrons of veterans and serving men and women leading the march in 2010.
