Ben Cousins made the surprise decision to reitre from AFL football yesterday. He will play his last game in two weeks at Etihad Stadium.
This morning he caught up with Hughesy, Kate and Ed on Nova 100 (as he does every week), to explain his decision.
He said he considered what next year would be like if he didn't play well or if his body didn't hold up, and that leaving on his own terms really appealed to him.
He talked about his dad and how special their relationship was, saying only they knew "the full extent of where life has taken us".
Former West Coast Eagles teammate Dean Cox was a surprise caller (even though it was only 6am in Perth), paying tribute to Cuz, and agreeing to catch up soon.
Cousins also said he was having lunch with former teammate Chris Judd today.
