Runaway favourite Karise Eden has won smash-hit TV show The Voice.
The talented 19-year-old, singing on Team Seal, swept aside the competition with a string of incredible performances to claim victory over finalists Darren Percival (Team Keith), Sara De Bono (Teach Joel) and Rachael Leahcar (Team Delta).
Her debut single was released after the show and her debut album is released next week.
A truly incredible rise to national fame after it was revealed Eden was living in a woman’s refuge before the show began.
Brisbane’s Nova 106.9 stand-in breakfast show Dan Anstey and Margie – a reality TV Biggest Loser winner in her own right – spoke with the overwhelmed Eden the morning after her grand final triumph.
Going off only a couple of hours last night the gigly Eden is already enjoying the fame.
“I think I need a couple of days at home just chillin’” said Eden.
“But I do have moments of like, ‘holy crap!’ and then it just stops.
"I'm famous!" said a truly surprised Eden.
The viewer voted competition, which was influenced heavily by digital purchases on iTunes, saw Eden take a healthy lead into the finale thanks to three top-three songs in the iTunes charts at the close of voting.
The insurmountable lead was impossible for the other contestants to overcome, despite some celebrity star-power tweets from Joel Madden and Nicole Richie in support of red-haired De Bono.
